performing arts

I have an interest in watching Indonesian Performing Arts or In Indonesia it is called “Pertunjukan seni ”.  As we know that indonesia has various cultures and arts which are very unique and interesting. I have my own interest among several Indonesian Arts. The arts that I like the most are Kuda Lumping and Ludruk arts. The reasons why I like those kinds of performing arts are because I am a Javanese and both of those Arts are from java. As a Javanese I have to respect and care about my cultures, especially to those kinds of arts so that it will never dies even though I do not join the group of Arts performers because it is impossible for me since I am a woman and it is little bit dangerous.

I want to give a little picture about what is called Kuda Lumping and what is called Ludruk. Kuda lumping is a Javanese traditional dancing that perfomes a group of fighters that are riding horses. The horses are made from bamboo. Kuda Lumping dance is followed by possessed attraction and magic power like eating glass, chili, uncooked chicken ect and striking their body by using whip. To make the player conscious from possessed attraction, there will be a Datuk who will help them to bring the black magic out from their body.

Ludruk is Javanese traditional drama arts. It is played by a art group which performs in a stage. The story shown in drama is about daily social life, struggling story, and so on and it is accompanied by performing of gamelan music, snake dance and comedy performing. The dialogue in Ludruk can entertain the audiences and make them laugh. It uses simple Javanese language that can be understood by every society whether it is educated people or no, especially Javanese. A Ludruk performing is started by Remo dance performing.

However, now I am joining an organization that related to dancing and I am interested in learning Jathilan dance. It is kind of Kuda Lumping dance but without any possessed attraction.
